Wow, in the school I work in, Teacher Appreciation day does NOT exist!! Although I love the spa, I would never accept a gift like that. That $$ should go towards the students. Taking the students out for bowling, ice cream, or a picnic in the park would be a great treat for me, as well.
What day was that again, first Tues in May?? I'll suggest my DH treat me to the spa!

Just curious, OP, how did you vote in the referendum? Also, why do you think schools are immune to inflation. Of course costs go up each year, it would be nice if they didn't but your cost for gas, food, heat, electricity goes up every year, as does your salary, generally. How would you like to incur those cost increases with your "boss" slashing your salary by 10% or more every year (loss of federal funding would be an example of that).

If the PTO couldn't spend the money they raised on a field trip (their money in no way covers the cost of those trips, but it does help) they had to spend the money someplace--they are a non-profit organization, they can't hold on to the money.
