I don't have any details other than a tree came down during the storm and hit our house with no damage to the house but it also hit the well pump "house" and appears to be no damage to the pump itself.

However, the power is out in the area and I understand it's literally freezing down there.

The mgmt company will get out there mid-week he said. I'm guessing the storm did some damage all over to have knocked out power - trees down on the lines?

Our house is south of Jackson

Anyone have more details?

Its all beginning to melt but some schools are still out due to busses not being able to travel down back roads. Well pump houses are really cheap at Wallyworld. there was alot of ice covered with 8 inches of snow in McNairy county so I wouldnt be surprised if there was some trees coming down. Sounds to me like you got lucky. You may want to make sure that the heat lamp in the well house is intact so the pump doesnt freeze. I dont think we are finished with freezing temps yet. 21 degrees last night. We have an old adage here in Tennessee. " If you dont like the weather, wait an hour. It will change!" Good luck!

8 INCHES OF SNOW?
I'll take 8", but not of snow. It's why we bought down there!

Thanks, Capt. I'm waiting to hear from the property manager now. He was hoping there'd be enough "defrosting" and melting that he'd be able to get down our street to check on things. It seems the tenants are good about keeping him informed. He was due to make his 3 month inspection this month anyway.

Not sure how much good any heat lamp is doing without the electricity to stay on! And now I've got to look up heat lamps - cuz I had no idea there'd be one. I didn't know well houses were bought. The one on our property is made of cinder blocks with a roof. In fact, it's really in a sucky spot and so ugly - so when we build the deck, we are planning to disguise it somehow.

I think I'm going to have to spend a month in libraries finding out all these little things about country living.

well pump light
well houses
wells in general
back-up generators
propane tanks, sizes, and where to put 'em
ant hills/mounds and how to get rid of 'em (I thought I knew what an ant hill looked like - YIKES!)

Got any other helpful topics I need to research, Capt?
