I understand Tennessee is not part of the "Driver's Compact" list, however there is still the National Registry. Therefore, if one has a suspended license in one state, I assume getting a license in Tennessee will still be out of the question regardless of the fact that they don't participate in the "Driver's Compact."

I'm asking on behalf of someone (not myself) who has NOT been zipping through school zones, blowing down the roads going double the speed limit or treating stop signs as suggestions, but rather has merely gotten the garden variety 45 in a 35 tickets which weren't paid, accumulated, the last one having occurred some 10 years ago, and apparently no matter how much time elapses this will always be a stumbling block to being "clean." This person wants to be "clean" but the idea of having to paid thousands in fines or else no matter how much time has passed just seems unfair; heck, they even don't do that with car repossession situations.

The other thing, too, is that if Tennessee doesn't participate in the "Compact" but will still deny you based on the National Registry, what's the point of the Driver's Compact to start with?

We cannot answer questions such as these on here. Contact the appropriate state agency. Good luck.
