Ok, I must have too much time on my hands today...or else the foot and a half of snow staring at me from outside my windows is making me crazy. Can you say SPRING FEVER? I cannot focus on much of anything tody!

Thought it might be fun to hear what your plans are for the spring and summer months...something you're really looking forward to.

For me, I cannot wait to see that first clod of dirt torn up to make way for our new home in Piney Flats. If you hear some wild screech from the hillsides, that's me cheering on the excavator. Also looking forward to planting some apple and peach trees and some day taking my first bite of a big ole juicy peach. Maybe some blueberry bushes..we'll see how this goes. Oh, and REALLY ready to put away the coats and put on something light and summery instead of sweats and gloomy dark colors. Anxious to go for a trail ride on my daughter's horse and sit on the ridge and watch the sun set on our meadows. Sigh....

I have a bad case of spring fever myself. I want to wear shorts and flops and go out on the houseboat. I want to bar-b-q and play on the water with my grand kids. I'm growing jalapenos and love stuffing them and cooking them on the grill with carne asada. *sigh* I think what I really have is summer fever!!

Planting a garden, tying the beans, staking the tomatoes

Hearing the booming afternoon thunderstorms, sad when they go away, but happy knowing that another one will be by tomorrow

Catching lightning bugs

Mowing the huuuuuumongous yard and getting sunburnt

Not being able to drive because I can't touch my steering wheel, and/or burning myself on the seatbelt, and/or feeling like I'll pass out cause it's 120 in my car

Wearing skimpy shorts and colourful flip flops

The smell of sunscreen

Baseball games

Pickin' a few songs outside

Oh, I am such a summer person! (And in late summer I'm a winter person. )

I'm also going to visit a couple old friends in Hamilton and Whitby, Ontario in late July. I think that's my most looking forward to moment!

I am looking foward to comming up to TN and staying up there for 3 weeks and working around my property, planting trees and plants. Getting a feel for TN living. Also to explore some of the parks, go horseback riding. Just enjoy life for 3 weeks.

From the heat wuss, things I am looking forward to this summer:

1. An early longer Fall.
2. A longer Spring.
3. Lots of freak cold fronts and windy days, if only
4. Kids going back to school before Labor Day (a big plus in TN)
5. The scent of mosquito repellant/bug bite marker
6. Yelling, "Die cricket, die!" in August as I run around with bug spray chasing one that may happen to get in my home.
7. Sinus headaches from all the air conditioning.
8. ants
9. getting up at 6:00A and doing almost everything I have to do outside before 10:00A
10. dripping bangs and changing my clothes twice a day.

Eh, the only thing I like about summer is it's lighter longer.

Aw, Laura, you should befriend the crickets. Or catch them and put them outside. They're really very friendly and not icky, unlike most bugs. But one DID bite me once (I SWEAR!!!) so be careful!!!

Your bit about clothes reminded me of another one. I take two showers in summer! Cold ones, too!!! I love it! And swimming pools!!!

Default Party!!!

My parents are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year! It is really in April but because we want the best chance for good weather, we are celebrating it in May. We are inviting over 50 years of friends and family from all over the country for the big day/weekend. For a lot of them it will be the first time they set foot in TN so will be helping many make a vacation out of it. Planning, planning planning! Not only working on my own yard and gardens but helping the folks get theres ready for the big day as well. We are having the party at there big ol farm house so we get to do the double duty garden chores this spring and I love it!
Also looking forward to the CD get together.
Spring in TN has got to be the best anywhere!
