Yeah, nothing more annoying than moving to Tennessee and then having to live around a bunch of surly, rude Tennesseans.

Sorry, but that kind of attitude is the precise reason I would never want to live in a place like Fairfield Glade.

I'm pretty sure that is not what fishingupnorth was saying. Tennesseans are, by and large, very friendly, and only rarely rude.

No, what I understood was that because everyone was from somewhere else, they were quite empathetic. They knew what it was like to be an outsider and know next to no one in their new area so they take great pains to be welcoming and friendly.

I'm an outsider living in an area full of locals, and they are all, without exception, the most genuinely friendly people I've ever had the privilege of being around. There are several other transplants in my neck of the woods, and we're all treated like part of the family. I do agree that I didn't feel like that when I lived in East Tennessee which I guess is a reflection of the stereotyped Appalachian culture of not trusting outsiders. But where I live, which is about 20 miles outside of Cookeville, that is absolutely not the case. And for my elderly mother who recently moved from Knoxville to downtown Cookeville where she can enjoy a nearly car-free lifestyle, that's not the case, either, as she rubs elbows with locals and transplants alike, every one of them super friendly, helpful, and kind.

11 private lakes. 4 golf courses. Racquet Center and low HOA fee of $104 per month. You can't beat it. Only downside is there are very few residents under the age of 70.
But it is quiet and very nice for weather and humidity being 200 ft up on the plateau.
HOA??? Everyone over 70???

This sounds like hell on Earth.

lpc123,

The Cleveland area (Bradley County) has Charter Spectrum and AT&T for the main internet services. There are some other options in rural areas but they are usually slower speeds. I think the service you are wondering about is EPB out of Chattanooga (Hamilton County). There is a lot of interest in having it as a option in Bradley County however it is my understanding that current state law blocks EPB from expanding out of Hamilton County.

You might consider googling over 55 communities in Tennessee to avoid the constant interaction with children.
