Hi all, I am looking to hook some type of cable, sat. or something at my place in Sparta. I am looking for something very inexpensive, LOL since I am only up there a few times a year. I called a sat. co and he said it would be $150.00 just for the equipment and then $9.95 a mo for 7 local channels. I was shocked that they charge to hook something up. I already have a dish installed on my place so I was going to go that way. Is there any cable companies that are inexpensive? I did hear something about the phone co. having something for TVs. OK now I am rambling. If anyone knows anything Please let me know. I will be there next Fri and would like to have something hooked up as soon as I get there. Thanks and hello to all my forum friends.

I use rabbit ears and now after 2/17/09 with converter and get around dozen channels here in FL. Not knowing the area in Sparta I would spend $29.95--$39.95 for a preamp set of "Rabbit Ears" and try them out and see what you get. If it works apply for a $40.00 coupon for the converter. A good converter is $ 49.95. Your cost $ 9.95 + tax.... You would have maybe dozen channels for "FREE" ! .....

Hi Tinman, right now in TN I only get one channel, that it PBS, and sometimes if the weather is good one other channel. I don't want to get a converter box because I would rather a bit of different channels. Watching cartoons when you get up in the am having coffee is getting old when I am up there LOL.

The convert is only for the signal not the channel. So you have tried rabbit ears? Regular $4.95--$9.95 kind or the ones with the transformer for more signal gain that you can dial in reception. I got a set from C Crane for $29.95 + ship and then bought another one several months later. A whole lot cheaper than $64.95 a month for basic cable. Radio Shack carries them also but their $39.95 and up.....

Use this chart to see what's available in your area for on air reception. You will need a convert box 2/2009 for conversion analog signal to digital signal......

Over the Air Antenna Selector - Winegard Direct.com - Winegard TV Antennas and Accessories I would only use a close by address not your real address. Like Bills Gas Station down the road.....

Or you could just order another receiver and get and align a dish for your place in Sparta. You'll have the same package there as you do wherever you normally live.
