Hi, I've been thinking of relocating to east Tenn. I have 1 sister and 1 brother living in that area. Also I have 1 sister in west Tenn. They all moved there from Calif. Now they want me to move there. My problem is I have 2 pit-bull dogs who were raised with only love. They are more like lap dogs. My brother tells me there is a dislike of these dogs in your state. Is he telling me the truth. I love the idea of moving out there but I would never give up any member of my family to move anywere. Could some one out there fill me in?

I don't live in TN yet but I would just keep them under control in your yard and not let them be running free. Maybe put a fence up for them if you feel more secure that nobody would see them. I just wouldn't let something like that keep me from making a move especially to be closer to family though i have 3 dogs myself and consider them part of the family as well. Maybe someone who lives in TN can give their opinion on the matter to help answer your question.

There have been some incidences with pit bulls here. I think a few counties have imposed restrictions on having them such as having a secure, locked fence. I believe a couple of counties may have banned them outright, but I'm not completely sure about that.

Sorry, but I agree with the restrictions, not because of the dogs themselves but because of the irresponsible owners.

Default pit bulls

well, you'll pay more for insurance if they insure you at all. sorry. pit bulls have a bad reputation. in every state -not just tn- as i've heard. misconception of dogs in tn -you can't turn them loose to potty- they may not come back! and if they were to scare someone into a heart attack or heaven forbid bite someone or cause an accident - the owner will be held accountable. just the facts and nothing against the breed or owner. i'm a animal lover myself.
