U.S. Sen. Bob Corker will hold a town hall meeting at the Blue Ribbon Circle on the Celebration grounds in Shelbyville this Tuesday (8/25) at 2:30 p.m. The event is open to the public. If you need more info, contact his Nashville office.

I'm not exactly sure where Shelbyville is but I'm going to guess it's in Middle Tennessee. He's doing 20 townhalls across the state.

Shelbyville is about an hours drive (45 miles or so) south of Nashville. It's big claim to fame is the annual Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration and it was once the "pencil capital of the world" because of the number of pencils manufactured in the area. To pronounce the name the way the locals do, you have to sort of slur the name (imagine the way a kid might pronounce the name if they were saying it fast). All of which is beside the point, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway.

That's close. More like Sheb-ba-vull, I think. Someone has to hear it once to say it.

I considered posting something similar to your rendition, but to my ear that middle syllable sometimes seems to pass so quickly that I barely hear it all.

I don't here it either. I do hear it the way you wrote it in your other post. I never understood how they got that pronunciation from the way it is spelled. LOL!
