Of course, at least here in Nashville, the TV weather people go nuts whenever there is even the slightest chance of snow. And if they predict snow and there is just one single snowflake anywhere within a hundred mile radius of Nashville, they will brag the next day after getting the forecast right.
Alleycat, I see you know the area...forget about the flurries the ice without the roads being salted/sanded and warnings that the bridge will ice before the road is what I saw @ here. I watched as people on both sides of 40W outside of murfreesboro slid off the road. Is that the norm here?

tiere40 - that's pretty much normal. Seems everyone tends to freak out when they mention the 's' word. My daughter's teacher called her yesterday morning to let her know she wouldn't be doing her clinicals for her nursing class because it *gasp* snowed!!!! Up there (Sparta) there was barely a dusting, but the area came to a halt.

Those that drive either do 10 MPH or 100. Make sure you pay your car insurance if you drive here in the winter! I drive through M'boro daily going to / from work. I take 24 though and the roads are pretty good. They keep them salted really well, no ice that I saw.

Woke up this AM, out of the house at 6:00, temps at 12 degrees. Had more snow, some stuck to the windshield, some in the yard. Poor little Miata covered in a tarp, car cover and a couple inches of snow still. Poor little Florida car doesn't understand.

Rarely, when it does snow, I make sure to take only backroads if I need to get out somewhere ( if they are slick so be-it ). Main roads with salt is not good, and I enjoy driving my 30+ year old rust free classics.
