if you are wanting a mountain scene then west of Crossville is not for you..East Tn has the mountains, middle Tn has the hills. Maybe look around the the outskirts of Knoxville..Sevierville area maybe? Shopping and the other things are close by but you're still in touch with nature and the mountains. Really, the possibilities of a location are endless

You will really have to give everyone some idea where or what area you think you would like to go. IMO, all of East TN could be the perfect place, some are just a little better than others. But each person is different. Some like it a little cooler in the winter and to be in the mountains, some like it not quite so cool and rolling hills but still close enough that you can drive to the mountains in about an hour or less. But that is what I think is the perfect place for me.
Coming from FL myself, I didn't want to be on a mountain, because if it snows, I want to be able to get out and go if I want and not have to worry about trying to get up or down the mountain with my car. I don't like sliding down the mountain backwards or frontwards for that matter. And I wanted to be able to use all of my land if I choose to do so, if you are on a mountain it's possible that you won't be able to actually use all of your land. There's a lot of land in TN but you have to do the research. Get a map of TN, you already sound like you want East TN. Now you have to decide Northeast or Southeast. Google some of the towns. You can get a lot of info off the computer and then when you have a better idea what area you think you would like. Ask these wonderful people on this forum, they are always willing to help. And they are really good at it. But you have to give them some idea which way to go. Everyone is partial to different areas. Like I said IMO the perfect area is the Southeast area. You might want to look at the pictures in the Tennessee forum and also in the Kingsport forum. That might help you see some different areas to give you some idea.
Best of luck finding your place.
