Electrek reports that "The Model Y has dethroned the Toyota Corolla as the world’s best-selling car in Q1 and looks like it may well maintain this position for the full year... the Model Y had 267,200 sales in Q1... This put it ahead of the Corolla at 256,400 sales for the same period..."
These comments that EVs are just a niche vehicle choice, just sound more and more odd with each passing year. Of course it's true that EVs are still a minority contributor to the overall auto market, especially in the US, but they just continue to grow and grow in sales...

Still, not even close to the sales of the Ford F150, which sold 456,972 trucks that same quarter. Tesla is definitely the bets selling EV in the higher cost liberal cities. On our recent drive from Seattle to Portland we passed 6 truckloads of Teslas heading north. This past weekend we drove to the coast and down along the highway through several state parks. We saw no Teslas on that whole trip until we got back to the Puget Sound area. Then here in Sammamish, we saw 7 just in the last 6 miles.

The 456,972 figure was for all of Ford's vehicles for Q1, not just the F150. The Model Y outsold the F150 in Q1. Ford sold ~175,000 F-series trucks in Q1, which includes the Lightning.

Yes, I went back and cheked my sources and that is correct (oops).
In 2022 they sold 640,000 trucks for the year, still well below the 900,000 they were selling prior to the pandemic. In that same year Tesla sold 1.31 million cars, more than the F150 peak years.
