Earlier in the day, Bloomberg said the Model 2, which is supposedly a fraternal (not identical) twin of the RoboTaxi had been scrapped and the RoboTaxi was preceeeding.
Elon basically tweeted that they were lying.
But after the market closed he accounted that the RoboTaxi was going to be revealed on Aug 8th. Notable by it's absence was Model 2.
I guess Elon Musk has a thing against taxi drivers. The 1% ers main idea. The rich get richer. They cant wait to take the human factor out of EVERYTHING. That will only go so far.
Back in the early 60's there was a Twilight Zone episode about a company that went totally human free, in the plant they fired everybody. Only 1 person left to run the place. Eventually everything totally quit working and shut down. Will the rich elite take this into consideration. Not a chance.

Yes, you need to take anything Musk says with a large grain of salt. Calling Reuters liars was bad form. Beyond calling them liars, he hasn't been very clear about what he purports is going on instead, which isn't very transparent.
It's reported that he liked an "X" post that said that the Model 2 has been deprioritized relative to this Robotaxi project. And if that is indeed true, it's similar to what Reuters reported.
In fact, looking beyond Elon Musk and across the would-be robotaxi industry, there have been a lot of executives trumpeting great progress and announcing imminent self-driving cars and/or robotaxis for what - 5 years now? 8 years? But the reality is that we don't have such an industry.
So just going by the record of rhetoric versus achievement on this topic - by everyone, including Musk, I'll believe it only after it's been proven to be safe on our roads, and frankly view any introduction with some concern. The public safety is at risk here, and I have seen no reason to believe that any of these executives who want the money, would actually be responsible for the consequences of attempting to introduce this technology; and I think the deaths and maimings of innocent people are inevitable from these systems.

The Cybertruck...it's a rich mans toy and not a very practical vehicle for most consumers to buy....just like the Hummer.
So you don’t like it, got it. But can you explain how it’s a dead end when every one they can possibly produce for the next couple of years is already sold?

Deposits are not completed sales. It is yet to be seen how many wannabe Cybertruck buyers follow through to actually handing over the big check and take delivery. I have no use for a Cybertruck nor the desire to own one but more power to those that do.
From a business perspective the Cybertruck development was a huge mistake for Tesla for such a niche market when those funds should have been invested in refreshing the brand producing cars that people actually want and can afford to buy. Just because they can develop and build something like the Cybertruck doesn't mean that it makes good business sense for Tesla to do so. Look at the terrible position they're in right now. If everything was fine they wouldn't be laying off workers and long time executives wouldn't be leaving the company. Tesla is in trouble, so Musk the magician better have another trick in this magic hat to fix it.
Why all the hate for an American company that is doing good?
