I am looking to move to North Dakota but I heard there is just as much work in the oil fields in Texas, does anybody knows where the jobs are and how much are they paying for?
I have a CDL, bu I have not driven in a long time, can do a little welding and mostly maintenance mechanic in machinery

CDL is king in Midland/Odessa. If you can't find a job here with a CDL, you're not looking. I was just offered a job just the other day standing around talking with a friend. I mentioned I had a CDL and his friend was jumping to get me be hind the wheel of one of his trucks. Experience isn't an issue either, I landed a job just days after getting my CDL.

SVTRay, sounds great, maybe I won't have to travel so fast and leave the little ones but without a job and the mortgage around the corner, can't wait. Would you happen to know what they are paying in those fields, I need to save so I can buy my own rig to move the oil, just looked at prices and its about 80k for tractor and tank.

The map in this article (http://news.p2es.com/default.aspx?vid=42&gid=37 - broken link) shows the counties where the Eagle Ford oil shale operations are. That's where the current oil boom is happening. Most of them are very rural.

Well, I most certainly have a lot of work to do this week searching for jobs in all of this places, thru the internet. Thanks to all, if anybody hears anything about a job, please let me know. The wife just threw me out of the house, like its my problem, i told her to give me 3 weeks, and then I'll throw myself out of the house.
