If you are referring to the article that listed Galveston, then you really need to do some reading about how they got derived their crime statistics for Galveston. I am not a Galveston apologist by any means ( I actually find it kinda run down ), but the area they listed in that article is the main tourist district. Yeah I am really afraid every time to go to Galveston's downtown ice cream shop or I take a carriage ride to the Opera house or the Treemont House Hotel. Do a Google search for "The Galveston Strand" because that is what they boxed in as one of the most dangerous areas. Galveston does have problem areas (and they are downright scary), but the Strand is not likely one of them. Point is that those stats were kinda meaningless. That is if you are referring to the same article...

I believe the OP is referring to this:

Dallas now has third highest crime rate of cities with over a million people | DALLAS CITY HALL Blog | dallasnews.com

I can't find a link to the results of the actual study.

San Antonio is at the top of that list in the DallasNews article. The San Antonio PD objected to the methodology of this study when it was released last year, stating that they had changed their crime-recording procedures to get in compliance with Federal guidelines, while other cities were not in compliance with those guidelines. They claim it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. If that's true, it's a meaningless list.

So SA'a crime rate is that much higher than Philly's? I feel a lot more safe here than I ever would in Philly. However, I would not take anything out of SAPD's mouth too seriously. Crime reporting procedures? The department did not own a computer until last year. I think they counted the crimes on abacus. They can't stop the crime in the heart of the city if the cops are too busy ticketing drivers on 1604 and 410...IN THE LEFT LANE mind you. Stupid is what stupid does. No surprises here.

its funny how the article is trying to make Dallas sound safe by saying out of the 3 big cities Dallas is the safest lol out of 3 they are 3, and the numbers are close it is not like they are wildly different.

I agree with Bowie in ttat it is a meaningless list
