Sorry, no, I meant Dallas. I would drive from my parents home in southern Dallas county to Midland on I-20 the entire way. I passed through Ft Worth, but that wasn't my point of origin. I passed through Abilene and Sweetwater too, but didn't mean them either.

Like I said, it's habbit. I can understand you not meaning Abilene and Sweetwater because their not exactly big cities. I get what you mean but" you did say "you go through ours of nothingness" before you get to Midland.

Well, can you see the Fort Worth skyline from I-20? I'm never on I-20 so I really don't know. Fort Worth doesn't exactly feel like a big city outside of its downtown area and I-30.

To me, once you are on the road in Dallas, its all the same thing until you get to Weatherford. In my mind Dallas and Fort Worth are one in the same. One giant megamess.

@ CB - Yes, you can see the skyline. There may not be that many skyscrapers and they may be shorter than the average +500,000 city, but you can still see it.

and @ debkidz - "In my mind Dallas and Fort Worth are one in the same."...... of course. GOD I hate that.

It's ok if you see in real life.
If you think its amazing you must be having a stroke.

That's true. It looks a lot bigger in pictures. It actually looks huge when you're driving in from many miles away. You see nothing but flat land and that huge downtown. Then when you get close and actually pull into downtown, you realize how tiny it really is.

Honest question: Why do you hate that so much? I grew up in Fort Worth and now live in Dallas. Honestly, my life doesn't feel any different now. To the average person who didn't grow up in one city's core, the entire metroplex is pretty much a big 'burb outside of the two downtowns. That includes both Dallas and Fort Worth outside of their respective cores.

Civic pride.... maybe a litte too much, but I just hate someone telling me that I'm from some other city.

I just hate having to explain to people that they AREN'T the same (they're not exactly that much night and day, but definately aren't the same).

I'd rather help build up this city and be apart of a progressive movement to help this place grow in the right direction, than to ever move to Dallas.

That's just me.

I know they aren't the same. I was born and raised in Dallas, and lived there until I was in my mid 20's. DH was born and raised in Ft Worth. He considers them one in the same also. Our relatives in each of the cities, and the ones in between, all treat it as one big city. If we were to ever move back, we would probably chose to be in Ft Worth. When we were growing up, they were two distinctly different towns, and you knew when you passed out of one and into another. Not any more. We know the differences, but to most people, who do not consider DFW the center of the universe, it's all one big place. No disrespect to Fort Worth. It's a great place. The point is that to those not from the area, it's all one giant place.

But, this has nothing to do with this thread, so, I'm done.
