Very interesting. I knew the Midland-Odessa economy was doing well but I didn't know it was doing as well as that article indicates.

A couple of weeks ago, I needed to fly to Midland for a funeral. It was, of course, a last minute thing. There were no flights available. So I decided to drive. Then I could not find a hotel room. Ended up not being able to go to the funeral since I couldn't get a flight nor hotel room. When the price of oil gets as high as it is now, Midland/Odessa always booms economically. It's always great news for the Permian Basin.

Nice to have oil and gas driving the economy with the 1,000 increase in oil and gas service jobs increase over last year. Should continue great until, if ever, the country becomes less dependent on oil.

Booming, more like growing, as it is now, not a constant straight line "up" and not as noticeable in growth as the DFW area, but hey, good for them.

Yeah, I would say it's not a boom, but Midessa is doing OK. Of course during the Great Recession, OK is pretty dang good.

I don't know why DFW would be considered to be doing particularly well right now. Midland/Odessa beats it in every metric listed at the link. Well, except for the absolute numbers, which is to be expected since the population of DFW is about 26x the population of M/O.
