What do these cities have to do with him saying Austin and SA's black populations are insignificant?

Houston's black population is more than just AA's. A large number of them are from places like Nigeria. You just won't find that in Austin.

Austin doesn't have much of an international community to begin with. Unless they are at UT.

The point is too simple to have to explain, sorry. Maybe you can look it up.

So, you bring in other cities that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic, to try and say "well, at least the percentages aren't as low as these cities". That's basically what your post came off as. Doesn't make much sense to post those cities.

True

UT is Austin's saving grace for bringing diversity to the city, but even UT is considered a mostly white college in a mostly white town. The minorities that do go there are very white washed.

Whites make up 52% of UT's undergraduate & graduate student body. The state as a whole is only 47% white while Austin is 64% white.

I guess if you're afraid of a little diversity, Austin is a good place to seek refuge.

Metro Matt....I have an Indian family next door.....a Chinese/Filapina family across the street & an hispanic family next door.

Upper middle class Austin. What's your street look like?

This diversity talk cracks me up. Austin has near the state average in Caucasion & Blacks.....lower in Hispanics & higher in Asian. Who cares?

(& in an attempt to boost the hispanic population I would love for a few dozen more authentic Mexican & South American restaurants to open up here in Austin...like SA & Houston has & would love to have 3 times the number of Taco Trucks.)

I'd post more.....but I'm too busy trying to recruit more Nigerians from Houston.

To be fair - shouldn't you look at other schools considered "selective" or "highly selective?" Such schools will have more white undergrads because non-Asian ethnic groups do not perform as well in high school or on the SAT.

Austin doesn't have a Prairie View A&M nor Texas Southern type of university.

The enrollment at Rice, easily Houston's best university, is about 60% white. U of H has a highly diverse population, but part of that reason is that highly qualified whites self select to go elsewhere.

Dallas universities are probably not much different. I am willing to bet SMU and TCU are very white. UT-Dallas is under-represented by minorities too.
