Hello,

I recently visited the Port Lavaca area and it's surroundings. Does anyone know what is going on in the Alamo Beach area? I see there has been some work going on, i.e roadwork and a large space has been cleared of tress and shrubs. Is going to look anything like Magnolia Beach?

Thank you
John

I wish I knew. We are looking for property there or Magnolia Beach, possibly near Powderhorn or Indianola.
What I am wondering about is the erosion rate. There are several different photos of parcels at Alamo Beach (one where they've put in rip rap, ostensibly to try and stop it) that look like there has been significant erosion and on Google Earth, it looks like there's slight overwash in a few places. Add to that the plat maps that the "investors" all seem to use appear to have had a first row of blocks that are now at least halfway in the bay.
Personally, I wouldn't build closer than 2 or 3 blocks (not rows) back. We abandoned the notion of Gilchrist/ Crystal Beach for the same reason. Surfside/ Matagorda were never in the running either. It's a beautiful area though.

Is it true that Alamo beach is fixing to grow due to the number of people moving into Texas from middle eastern countries?
