I wish my German were better! When I was a kid we spent many years in Germany due to the military and I used to be able to speak it conversationally. My mother was full blood German from Schweinfurt which is near Frankfurt. I still have cousins over there.

There's a great German market/restuarant called "Kuby's" in Dallas: Kuby's Sausage House. Really good food!

I know of a few German families in the Richardson a Plano. There is a place called Reetz Pub & Grub, the man that owns is from Germany. I have a friend from Germany who used to live here in the Dallas area, but he moved. I believe his parents still live here.

There are several German bars and restaurants around Dallas. I could have swore there was an actual bier garten (sp?) somewhere as well.

There are lots of German (and Czech) Americans from Austin to SA to Houston. Not nearly as many 1st generation Germans here.

Many Central Texas cities (outside of Austin) have deep German roots.

Default Meine Frau auch....

We would also like to move to a German community.
My wife is from Berlin and we now live in Panama City Beach, FL.
We are planning on driving out to New Braunfels and Fredericksburg soon.

I was born and raised in Alabama and was stationed in Germany for 5 years.
We both miss Germany and German culture.
I must say, that of all of the states that I've visited in the USA, Texas is, by far, the friendliest of them all.

Florida is full of rude people. I never want to live in Alabama again. We both like the mountains of North GA but we've got to check out New Braunfels.
Then we can make a decision of whether to move to TX or N. GA.

We want/need clean air, friendly people, good neighbors, low crime, low cost of living, etc, etc, etc.
