The Choctaw's have added a 5% tribal tax to cigarettes to fund tribal social programs. For a lot of Texans who go there to buy their smokes, that means it's no longer cost effective to do so as the price difference is now negligible.

The Chickasaw's at Thackerville, OK and other places have not raised their prices, nor have other tribes that I know of.

So...if you're a Texas smoker who buys his smokes from the Choctaw's, how about letting Principal Chief Greg Pyle know that the new tax will cost them business? The number is 800-522-6170. Ask for his office.

And, since a lot of gamblers are smokers too, if you're one of them let him know that you'll take that business to the Chickasaw's as well.

Smokers must fight every effort to punish us for smoking and this is just another round of that fight.

You're still going to buy them. Only way you won't is if you quit.

Not so far. I asked and there are no plans to do so at this time.

Hmmm...it seems to me that you either have to buy them or quit, unless you roll your own.

This use to be a free country and you could but your Cigs from just about anywhere that sells them. Try that approach.

Or you could run down to Mexico and smuggle them across the border.

Or you could order them off the internet from India.
