And your average hurricane is MUCH more than 10x larger in area than your average tornado, which speaks even further to how much more damaging per capita, if you will, a tornado is.

I will say hurricanes. Even though you have time to prepare, your house WILL receive damage. Tornadoes are much more random and honestly are not that common. Ive lived in TX for 40 years and have never had a home damaged by a tornado.

The bigger threat in Texas comes from wind and hail damage!

Same here. I was looking forward to seeing a tornado this time around but I didn't. I've lived here 27 years and so far nada.

Where were you when those multiple tornadoes ripped past DT Dallas a year or so ago?

What about the major one that struck DT Fort Worth in 99 doing extensive damage to skyscrapers with falling shards of glass the size of cars in the streets?

Could you imagine if there was an outbreak similar to what happened in Alabama or Missouri in DFW? The tornadoes yesterday were "only" EF2's and below, with one EF3.

They are about as common as hurricanes in Texas. And it's not like there is ever just one tornado. There are usually a couple during a storm.
