Does anyone remember this YWCA Camp just outside of Comfort, Texas? I was a counselor/swimming instructor there Summer, 1970 for two months. If you do, I hope you have some photos from there. I noticed that the property is for sell and the lodge has been made into some sort of B&B. It doesn't look the same. Thanks.

I also worked at Camp Idlewilde and Camp Arrowhead in the early 1970s as a western riding instructor.

I did have pictures of both, but threw away a ton of them before I moved.

I think Arrowhead has closed--and I'm not surprised about Idlewilde, either.

Another camp in the vicinity, Waldemar, is still operating, AFAIK.

Times change.... :-(

Default Photo of the Lodge

I found an online photo of the camp lodge; It was previously for sale on eBay.

I was a camper at Idlewild from about 1959 through 1964. Good times.

Default Camp Idlewild YES!

I went to camp Idlewild for two summers. Had such a great time. So many memories that are all GOOD. I am sure I have photos somewhere...I went in the 70's around 72 and 73. I loved seeing the picture someone posted of the lodge. I miss it all. I would give anything to buy the land. Does anyone know if it has sold yet? I am also looking for a counselor, Janelle Avery who went as Ruffles, her camp name. If anyone has seen her or know her married name I would really love it. I can be found on facebook under judy reno musslewhite. thanks! God bless, Judy

Default Camp Idlewilde

Hello Ladies
I was a camper, JC & counselor at Idlewilde 1967-1975. Truely a tresured place & many wonderful experiences. I went back twice when it was no longer Camp Idlewilde. Juanita Ford(daughter of O'Neil Ford-famous Texas architect) bought is and turned into a private residence. The lodge was her home. No more tent city or food hall. Most cabins were donated to other camps. In 2013 I went up to the Hill Country for work and showed up at Camp. It was now a bed & breakfast. The arts & crafts cabin & infirmary had been made into cabins that could be rented. The owners were fascinated about the camp stories and wanted pictures. I should have sent my Chactaw spear !
It was a special place !

Hi Judy ! Still hanging out with Page ! We were in Fredericksburg this past weekend at her ranch. I keep in touch with Donna Masters & see Emily Oliver . I think about Susie all the time. Do you keep in touch with Judy Sublett ? Idlewilde was on the market but I didn't have $800,000 handy ! But I was up there 2 weeks ago having lunch with a friend. I would love to move there as well. I live in SA. Have 2 grown sons. Friend me on FB too. My little sister, Glenda lives out side of Dallas.
Helen
