I wonder if any of that overflow from the oil boom in Midland and Odessa has reached as far as Pecos. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Monahans is also full. It's much closer to Odessa than Pecos.

There are videos of Pecos? What do they show? Yes, Pecos itself is flat. However, the Davis Mountains are about 70 miles to the southwest and the Guadalupe Mountains are about the same distance to the northwest. You can see the silhouettes of the mountains from any field or open spot in Pecos.

It is unfortunate that you were frightened by the fact that where you were looked like Mexico. You must have had a bad experience in Mexico too. Or maybe you assume you know what all of Mexico looks like. Just remember please not to judge people by their skin color and the conditions of surroundings. Angels walk amongst men and women whom live in the most desolate of places and if Jesus (who was a dark skinned man) walked down the street, you would probably fear him too and other's who feel like you would probably want to crucify him all over again. Feel safe, know you are protected where ever you go and it will be so.

I have worked in pecos for over a year . This place is pure trash . You can be poor , but still take pride in your homes , and town . It’s nothing , but if dirty illegals wetbacks . My company offered to pay me a additional 25.00 a hr , and set me , and my family up in a nice home . If I would move . I told them I would quit before moving to that **** hole . No amount of money is worth living in pure filth . The mayor of pecos should be ashamed of his town , and start fining people who don’t clean their **** up . I am not racist by any means I have many friends and family from different ethnicity backgrounds. It’s also a sin to live in filth . I call it like I see it sloby , filthy trash .

This is truly old news. Pecos is most certainly not sleepy or rural. It is a major oil boom town at the moment and very dangerous to drive around in. But there is money to be made there for sure, at the moment.

LOL! This thread made me want to go visit Pecos!
I lived in Weatherford for a while and have traveled all over the lower 48, but cannot remember Pecos even though I have driven right past it.
