Look, it's all good that you don't like it here. No city is everything to everyone. But don't get indigestion over it. Have a plan and go somewhere you would rather be. No need to go on about it.
He was comparing Dallas to Houston.

The purpose of this forum is to share your opinion, that's simply what I'm doing. It's clear we view Dallas differently, so let's just leave it at that.

Lived in Houston and spend a lot of time in Dallas. These two are more more me.

Houston is a bit more centrally located than Dallas.

It's about 3-4 hours to Dallas, about 3-4 hours to Austin, about 5 hours to New Orleans, and about 5 hours to Nuevo Laredo. On top of that you have the gulf coast beaches, while Galveston is not exactly scenic, it's still a beach!

Houston appears to have advantages over Dallas on paper but in person Dallas is the nicer city with more cool factor that young professionals can relate to.

If it take you 3-4 hours to Austin, you need Chevron with Techron, or something. It's about 2 hours Houston-Austin off-peak, which is a really nice benefit for weekend getaways--much better than Galveston. Galveston is pretty terrible as a beach, but is slightly better as a getaway town for restaurants, shopping on the Strand and a few other attractions.

I liked the Kemah boardwalk a bit, mostly for her nostalgic feel. As to Galveston, the beach was pretty ugly, but in mid October still warm enough to dive right in. Compare that to Dallas who has no beach, and no beach close by.
