Probably wrong forum. But yes, there are lots of chemicals at an oil field that could be carcinogens - benzene being the most often cited. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work practices should be in place to limit or reduce exposure, where necessary.

Could you get cancer if you just live in Midland to work on other jobs such as Wal Mart, instead of working in oil field?

You can get cancer from sitting in the sun or eating grilled steaks.

My husband has been working in oil fields all around the world for thirty five years. No cancer yet! He's in great health.

I hear the Russian Government is paying green groups to flood forums with disinformation like this so the Russians can keep the price of oil high.

Nothing like being a commie shill.

Except this time around its just big oil in Russian.

In all this intense research did you find anything to answer the OP's original question ... like articles on cancer risks in the oil fields?

All of this is just related to industrial accidents which happen all over America on a daily basis in all industries but mostly transport and construction.

Yes ... you can get cancer with NO exposure to hydrocarbons.

But to read into your post a bit you are in no more risk at the Midland Wal Mart than at the Wal Mart in Knoxville, Tennessee or Bangor, Maine or Great Falls, Montana.

We are ALL going to die of something though!
