Has anyone been to the flea Market in Canton? Someone was telling me about it. It supposed to be the world's largest flea market. Looking at their website, it almost seems like the Disneyworld of flea markets, it seems to cover several hundred acres, along with the usual overpriced food/coke stands, etc, They have an extensive hotel network around the area.

Well, are there really any good bargains, or just a place to spend a weekend? Or, hopefully, both!

My husband and I went today - we go about every three months or so. It was terrific as usual and we both came back with "finds." We prefer to get OUT of the sprawling pavilions and back into the older part with the antiques and "junk" rather than retail type stuff.

It's fun, interesting, and tiring.

We treat ourselves to a roasted ear of corn every time we go - dipped in butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese and cajun spices! WHOOHOOOOO!!!

You can find bargains, and oddities, especially OUT of the pavilions.

Go and have fun!

Two of my friends are going today. I am so jealous!

It's been years since I've been, but I always have a blast. You can find all kinds of things. Like Kathryn, I like to look through the older stuff (I've really found some treasures there), as well as some of the shops and the pavilions if they aren't too crowded.

Many places, especially in the pavilions, do take credit or debit cards. Also there are ATMs around. But I'd bring cash if I were you - sometimes you can get a better deal.

Several years ago I sold my brother and SIL my RV so they could camp out and sell at Canton. Yes, I've been there and it was a lot of fun. Several times I spent an entire weekend and still was not able to see it all. I would take a scooter now if I went.

My favorite was the guy with the utility trailer with sides that was overflowing with old tools. I don't think the guy could move the trailer anymore it was so full of tools!

The smaller vendors outside of the pavilions often don't take cards. And if you do have cash, they will give you a better deal.

Canton has a bunch of hotels because of trade days and many people also have B&Bs around. Canton is "dry" but you can drink whatever you want at the bar in the town Applebees. Also there is a beer barn about 20 minutes away in Mabank. Tyler is actually a long drive ,away 45 minutes so unless you really have a reason to not stay local there's no reason to all the extra driving back and forth. Canton is a pleasant town and lots of fun on Trade Days. Literally everything you could want to buy and then some !
