Today is Texas music icon Willie Nelson's 80th birthday.
He's having a birthday bash concert (I don't remember exactly where; offhand listening to SirriusXM while driving)...with the proceeds going to two fire departments having to do with the West, Texas blast.

It's @ the Backyard in Austin. His hometown of Abbott is right next to West.
I entered a contest for free tickets to that a while back--guess I didn't win them!
. Love Willie--saw him the first time in the late 70s @ Mississippi State, then too many times to count since then. I think the best ever was a free concert at the Mid-South Fair in Memphis (a fair that no longer exists due to attitude/demographics--but that's a whole 'nother thread, lol). I was on the second row, & he looked right at me through half the songs! My husband was like, "he's staring right at us!", but I was thinking, no, Hon, he's staring at ME!

It's actually in Bee Cave, not Austin, about 2 miles East of me. We can hear all the concerts for free as they're really loud.

. Love Willie--saw him the first time in the late 70s @ Mississippi State, then too many times to count since then. I think the best ever was a free concert at the Mid-South Fair in Memphis (a fair that no longer exists due to attitude/demographics--but that's a whole 'nother thread, lol). I was on the second row, & he looked right at me through half the songs! My husband was like, "he's staring right at us!", but I was thinking, no, Hon, he's staring at ME!
