Highland Park. Because of its very consistent exemplary ratings. Ninety-nine percent of the students go to college. The goal is to get into an ivy league, not just any college. Very high SAT scores.

It was ranked number 12 in the USA for its academics by Newsweek. It was number 16 for sports in the USA by Sports Illustrated. It's the only Texas high school to make both lists.

the best school district depends on the child--what works for one does not work for everyone...HP ISD has problems which range from overly obsessed parents, HUGH attention to money issues and fitting in, kids who are stressed out and unmotivated yet expected to be top achievers...it is not the greatest district in TX...but it has students from very wealthy families who probably are very concerned about scholastic success and college-related business success later...they are top achievers and expect their kids to be as well---most of those kids come to school knowing how to read, they get enough to eat and medical attention when they need it---if they have learning problems and their parents will admit it, they can afford all the special tutors and help a kid needs ...
HP is not know for its special ed outreach -- an average kid or below average would have difficult time succeeding there...

I agree. The HP school district is a very high pressure environment; my mother used to teach in the HPISD and she loathed it.
