many people around here think it will last or at least they are living like they believe that.It was the same way in the 70's

It is cool though that Midland has allowed Texas to snatch the title away from the east coast. For a while at least.

Yep. I remember when it came to a screeching halt down there in the mid-1980s. That definitely affected the Lubbock area.

My law: "Area economies go up and area economies go down just as HPR is buying and selling real estate in that area, respectively."
