Seems like a good idea. Then non-local traffic will take 130 instead of clogging up I-35.

theyve been talking about this for almost as long as 130 has been in existence. if the company that owns the 130 tollroad defaults as predicted maybe TXDOT can get the road back so they can implement this plan.

How about making both of them toll free?

So, there will be two free lanes each way and one toll lane each way, if I understand it correctly? And 130 will be free, which will be great for those folks who live east of Austin - I take 130 to places like San Antonio, Taylor, etc. - but not for the folks who live in Austin and west of there. If they're going to do this they need to make sure that Mopac DOESN'T have a toll lane through town so that the folks living West are served, as well.

I thought interstates couldn't be tolled..... but if they can, why not toll 18-wheelers that use I35 and make 130 free for them. It wouldn't solve everything but it would definitely help since most 18-wheelers are just passing through. I'm thinking out loud here.

This will prompt one hell of a lawsuit. As it should.
