Some neighbourhoods are really pretty, though for some reason there's no sidewalks on most blocks. Other neighbourhoods are sketchy, full of druggy burnouts. It's an okay place, but I have no intention in living there again! (Or in Texas in general after I am done with school) I did take a college placement test in ASU.

If you plan to choose San Angelo, make sure you have your housing/lodging locked down. Since the oil field boom, rents have increased drastically and apartments are in short demand. For instance, I was paying $800 a month for a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment and in less than two years, rent skyrocketed to $1150 a month. It is very difficult to find apartments for under $1000 a month that aren't in less than desirable areas or just dumps. So if you can secure housing on campus through the dorms or such, than ASU would be a good bet.

Hi, not sure if you still need the input, but I lived in San Angelo most of my life and attended K-12, undergrad. and grad. school at ASU in San Angelo. I agree with your buddy. If I were in your situation, I would not move to San Angelo to attend ASU for a few reasons. 1) Compare the physical therapy programs: ASU's physical therapy (doctorate) is fairly new, although I know nothing about the program at your other schools. ASU does not offer many doctoral programs... the university isn't very well established on the doctoral level. Are they even fully accredited? 2) San Angelo is aesthetically unappealing and running out of drinking water. The city is going through a terrible drought. 3) San Angelo is fairly isolated and lacks many amenities that you would have in Houston. I am a little biased though... I live in Houston now and would never go back to San Angelo.
