That's pretty much the case everywhere. It's what sells.

Waco (or Anywhere, USA) could host a charity event (for example) and raised thousands of dollars and while it would make the local news, it wouldn't make national.

Being redundant, but events like this one is what makes the national headlines. I will say Waco does seem to have more than it's share of significant negative events.

Waco is the Beaumont of Central Texas. That should tell you all you need to know about how crappy the city is.

Furthermore, Baylor University fraudulently advertises national restaurant and hotel chains will be coming to Waco soon.

Baylor poster exaggerates new restaurants purportedly coming to Waco - WacoTrib.com: Order Up!

ever been to downtown Beaumont? its actually pretty charming.. i guess i see the Waco comparison. both can be seedy, but have a lot of history and character.

furthermore, you act like some PR student that made this poster represents all of "Baylor University" and Ken Starr himself approved it..

Some of the clubs were from out of state. From what I am given to understand, this was a "peace conference" divying up territories among major criminal clubs (not to be confused with attorneys and accountants on bikes). Someone said something wrong in the bathroom, and as the line goes, "and the fight started".

Cops were there, and, yes, had discouraged the meeting. Two good things: no cops or civilians were hurt, and the idiot franchise owner/manager lost his franchise.

Wow so Waco (pop 129,000) is getting an In-and-Out and a Whole Foods before Clear Lake, Friendswood, Pearland and League City So how far has that deal gone...

There is a scene in 'True Detective' that showcases one of Beaumont's finer locations. If Waco is anything like that...

if we are talking about stand-alone cities and not upscale suburbs of larger cities like say the Woodlands or Frisco, then Waco compares pretty well. In fact, of all the stand-alone cities in TX in the 100,000 -150,000 range, Waco might actually be the nicest one to live in. It all depends on what you compare to. It isn't valid to compare Waco to some upscale suburban enclave like Southlake or Katy. You have to compare it to its peer cities which would be....off the top of my head

Amarillo
Lubbock
Midland
Odessa
Abilene
Wichita Falls
Tyler
Beaumont
Laredo
Brownsville
McAllen
Killeen

So all you Waco bashers tell us which of these peer cities is so much nicer than Waco. Maybe Tyler and that is about it. Would you rather live in Amarillo or Laredo or Beaumont? Didn't think so.

Frankly, Id much rather have Waco than any city listed here. It offers a lot for its size. Its ghetto as hell, but thats alright.

Waco gets a bad rap when things like this happen. Over all the city isn't dangerous, is it ghetto? Yes in some area's, but it isn't like someone is going to shoot you for the heck of it. Waco is an up and coming city with lots of projects being built as well as a new National Park. The gang shootout could have taken place anywhere, even in liberal Austin.

lol! Aw dang, thanks for laugh. Can you imagine a bunch of Austin Hipster "biker" gangs riding their fixies to Twin Peaks to have a shoot out? Most of injuries would be caused by uncontrollable laughter.
