Just pulled a query and found this deal with Reliant which I would rather stay with.

Base Charge: $5.00 per billing cycle
Energy Charge: (0 to 1000 kWh) 1.0¢ per kWh
Energy Charge: (> 1000 kWh) 7.0¢ per kWh
CenterPoint Energy Delivery Charges: $5.47 per billing cycle and 3.8779¢ per kWh

This deal looks better. Is it because it's not green energy?

Green energy providers unfortunately still usually cost more.

Give Energyogre.com a shot. It's $10 per month, but they automatically switch plans based on pricing and your usage. A friend uses it and easily made the $10 back per month in savings.

  • Energy charge for usage over 1000 kWh: 5.6¢
  • Base charge per month: $0.00
  • ONCOR Delivery charges passed through without mark-up : $5.25 per monthand 3.4377¢ per kWhThis pricing was effective as of: 04/21/2016
Please refer to your EFL for other details about your plan.
To cancel your plan, please call 1.866.222.7100. You cannot cancel online. The early cancellation fee applies until you receive your Contract Expiration

July I used 286.1 kwh. Bill was 25.65$ this month it may be $30-35, lol BUT I live in a 740 Sf. Ft. apart, BUT I face West with no close shade trees, big windows, I keep blinds, curtain open most of the day, BUT I use the large ceiling fans, and wear shorts, but I am comfortable and I am WARM natured, heat bothers me. I keep it on 82 in day and about 78 at night, again, I use ceiling fans.
I cook very little, but use washer and dryer.

.

You have to watch out if you are a low use customer - many of the plans have a flat rate up to 1,000 kW, so if they say 4 cents per kW up to 1,000 kW, but you only use 500 kW, you end up paying 8 cents per kW (more or less). Not a problem in the summer for most people, but can be in the winter, especially if you have gas heating. We use an average of 650 kW per month from October through April (2,400 sf house, gas heating), so we would end up paying for a lot of power we don't actually use. Some plans offer a cash incentive to go over 2,000 kW (usually $20 or something), but we never actually get there, even in the summer.

A few plans appear to have a second tier flat rate from 1,000 to 2,000 kWh. Very low per kW rate, but it is actually higher if you don't use all 2,000.

I live in a small 1br apartment. My plan from Gexa gives me a $25 credit as long as my usage is below 1000kWh. I usually go slightly over that in July and August, but other months, it's great.

My May electric bill was around $45 with the credit. I'll be surprised to see my winter power bill.

I just locked in one for 6 months..we're new and not sure what our usage will be in the new house...all inclusive price of 5.1 cents for 1000 kwh and 5.4 cents if 2000 kwh...if we go over 1000kwh we get a $35 rebate if we go over 2000 kwh we get a $50 rebate...I found it on power to choose, but this particular offer was given to me over the phone when I called them, it did not pop up on their website
