This is deep in my heart. What incredibly brave young men gave their lives for the vision of Texas.

These 20 somethings, laid down their lives.

And then there was Susanna Dickenson who ran from the fort with her baby to spread the word of the massacre.

Many of their graves are in south east Austin, in the Texas State Cemetery, with their stories.

Well, David Crockett was 49 years old when he died at the Alamo. He had lived nearly all of his life in Tennessee - which is interesting - and had only been in Texas a few months. Jim Bowie was about 40 years old. Many others were likely of that age group and 30s.

Not all there who died were in their 20s.
