Hey y'all!

I am moving to Mission with my family this summer.

I don't know much about the Valley and would love to hear from anyone familiar with the area.

I have three kids: one in elementary, one in middle, and one in high school. What public schools in the area are best?

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've heard Sharyland is nice. Other nice schools are in McAllen and maybe Edinburg too

We already purchased our home. We are zoned to Mission CISD. Are those schools okay?

High schools don't look too good, other than the Mission Collegiate High school.

Thanks for the tip! I'll look into Mission Collegiate HS.

My family is moving from Houston to Mission because of my husband's work.

Is Mission a good place to raise a family? What is their for families to do?

I've heard that the cost of living is very reasonable. Does anyone know if this is true?

Sorry for all the questions. I'm very excited about our big move and hoping to learn as much about the area as possible.

Many thanks!

I have lived in Mission since 2014 and I love it here. I retired in 2016 and sold my Michigan home 2 months ago (I used to be a winter Texan). The cost of living is very reasonable here. There is plenty to do in this area. The beaches of South Padre Island are just 1.25 hours away. Plenty of amenities for an average sized city. Great shopping, restaurants, and local activities. Drier heat than in Houston so that summers are more bearable. Also warmer in the winter than Houston.

Every winter there is an influx of Winter Texans from many northern states and from Canada. Lots of interesting people to meet and talk to from all over the US, Canada, and Mexico.
