I hear a lot of horrible things about Odessa in these forums and in other places. I live in north Odessa and I think Odessa is a great place to live. I would really like to hear some opinions about Odessa. They can be good or bad

I live in north Odessa also. Odessa has a terrible reputation but the north and east parts of the city are comparable to just about any other suburban area in the state.

I think that mostly people dislike Odessa because it is not pretty, shiny, or hip. But it is authentic and because of its unpopularity it always will be. Except for a odd few, nobody moves to Odessa because they want to live here. Mostly they come for work and get the hell out as soon as possible. Hipsters will avoid Odessa like the plague, and that suits me fine.

What was I talking about?

Oh yeah, my opinion, there it is.

Over the years I've had a couple of cousins that lived in Odessa and I have a great uncle that still lives there. Like Lucidus said above, all of them moved there because they got a job there and my cousins moved to other places later on when they had the opportunity to move. Odessa is not a pretty city but it's not as bad as some people make it out to be.

My impression was that Odessa lacks dentists, because before I went there for a visit, I had never in my life seen so many adults under 50 with missing teeth! WTF! Rednecks.
