I work with horses and dogs and I’m looking for a strong horse community, and just a strong community in general with nice neighbors and friendly people. I’m trying to find a mild climate and temperatures, no dessert and no 110 degree summers. Semi-rural with a County lifestyle. I’ll be looking for a job either as a dog or horse trainer, or maybe working in an equine hospital. I’m a runner and I like to be outdoors most of the year. I will initially be renting. Also, my income (right now) is on the low side. TIA

If this is a requirement then look somewhere other than Texas.

Lexington, Kentucky sounds exactly like what you're looking for.

I hope this helps....It should answer any questions you may have concerning Texas

Going by the map provided it seems like the answer to your question is ...of course DFW.

I'm always curious about places I've only heard about, know little about. I looked up Lexington and found the city population, latest census estimates of 323,000. Wow, I thought, the city is 28th in the COUNTY in land area at, 283 sq. miles, therefore, only 1,100 people per square mile. Maybe a good size city, and not the crowded midsize, city "feel"? Tyler has over 100,000 pop with only 50 sq. miles land area, almost twice as crowded. By the way, that is partly why Tyler's population is so small, very small land area. Tyler hardly will EVER annex any of the subdivisions that they COULD annex, most towns our size or 70-90 sq. miles.

Back to Lexington, so yes, this could be a could match. I will drive-thru or make a short visit there, one day, maybe, just to check this out. Not nearly such a LONG hot summer there, four seasons, and other differences. It should have what most should need or want?

You might think that, but actually the city limits go far out into areas that are farm or horse land.

The actual urban core (downtown the neighbourhoods around downtown) of Lexington is more dense, walkable, and intact than Tyler.

It's my opinion that a lot of city proper stats are more deceptive than helpful for this exact reason.

At the OP: Lexington might be exactly what you are looking for.
