Anyone happen to remember Boss McKenzie of Mexia Tx?
My mom said he was a sheriff of Mexia years ago. He has
since passed on I believe.

Just saw this as I was googling some family history. So, hopefully better late than never....

"Uncle Boss" was my great-great uncle, the brother of my great-grandmother, Delila McKenzie Masters. Uncle Boss was Sheriff of Limestone County from 1928-1932, one full term I believe, and then became Chief of Polce for the City of Mexia for 33 years, from 1932 until his death in 1955.

He was beloved and highly respected. He was a large man and his word carried a lot of weight, as well. My mom was actually in high school in the early 50's when he was Chief. She tells the story of when some of the high school boys would be out late at night and getting rowdy, all he would have to do is pull his patrol car up next them and say, "It's time for you boys to go to the house", and they would immediately obey with no other words spoken but, "Yes, Sir."
