I am curious about San Angelo.. I have looked at pictures of it on-line, but have never been there.. I have been down both I-10 and 20, but never deverted to see this city. What are anyones personal feelings about this city?

I lived in San Angelo for about five years. My personal feelings are that it is a very nice place with more natural beauty than most cities in west texas. It has some really nice old houses down by the riverfront. I would probably have stayed in San Angelo, except at that time there were no jobs there. That would be the one big negative of San Angelo; it seems to not value economic development as much as most other cities in west texas do.

But all in all really nice place!

Grew up there, go back from time to time and really a nice place still. Friendly, home town feel, fairly safe. The city has made an attempt to keep downtown active and clean. Nice university, San Angelo U. Have also thought of going back to live or retire there, alot of memories.

Economics would not be the draw there. But if your Soul belongs to the Outdoors, If you love Great sunsets, Real interaction with one's neighbors, not curious about the Night Lights anymore...it's safe, friendly and pleasantly boring. I love it

It is a great place to live and a bad place to try to make a living. Lots of people retire there.

I am moving to San Angelo. My fiance is Air Force Vet. I need to know about housing near Goodfellow.

We always went to San Angelo (80 miles from where I grew up) for groceries, clothes and medical care. It is a nice town (but not what it once was, as downtown is your typical boarded-up place in parts as the malls, etc. have been built) with all the amenities, as well as 2-3 lakes in the area.

But...having said that, it's still West Texas.....and you don't appear to care for that very much, from your past posts. I would not live there myself, but that's me--it reminds me too much of what we basically go there for--medical care. After my times there...and my mom's recent stroke and rehab--it's not a place to live for me.

But it's still a very nice town with excellent medical facilities, some good restaurants and just about anything else you'd need. Most of the large chains (Best Buy, et al) and reasonably priced housing are all there.
