Wrong.

"Texas" has not proposed this bill.

One State House Representative has proposed this bill. It would have to pass both houses of the State Legislature, then be signed by the Governor, to go into law.

At least, get the basics right.

Texas Republican Introduces Bill To Ban College Polling Places

On Thursday, Feb. 16, Texas Rep. Carrie Isaac (R) introduced House Bill 2390, a bill that would ban counties from opening polling locations on college and university campuses. H.B. 2390 would make it more difficult for students in the state to vote by requiring students to travel further from their campuses to do so. Isaac represents Hays County, which includes Texas State University, the 5th largest university in the state with over 38,000 students.

quite a mask off moment, no voter ID excuse with this one. When someone shows you who they are.. believe them.

Like the vast majority of bills introduced, this one will never see action, particularly since there is, at present, zero information on the why of this proposed ban.

I never get excited about a mere introduction. Only if it actually comes out of committee does it present a real issue. But this one's not even going to get a committee assignment.

Does tell me a lot more about my elected representative and that will have a decided impact next election.

Hays County elected a 19-year old with zero political experience as County Clerk. He ran as a democrat, and defeated a 20+ year incumbent by less than 2500 votes. Perhaps that’s why the bill was introduced. https://www.kxan.com/news/local/hays...itical-office/

So, how is Avrey Andersen doing as Hays County Clerk so far after a month on the job?

But if the votes were cast by residents, it is not anyone's job to try and make it harder for a certain demographic to vote. Just because outsiders don't understand the results doesn't mean anything. If it's legal, its legal. The notion of making it harder for students to vote is very blatantly saying "we want fewer people who vote for Democrats to be able to vote.". Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm guessing she doesn't know, even though she's comfortable making a statement that disparages him.

I have no clue how he is doing. I don't live anywhere to Hays County.
I can only say that as a 19-year old, that job would have been way too much for me, and I would suspect he would be struggling.

When I was in college, I didn't register to vote in the town where I went to school. I kept my registration in my hometown, where I still kept up with what was going on. Not all college students do that, and the result could very well be college students who blindly cast party-line votes, and are totally ignorant about local issues or the candidates themselves. I think that is why the bill's author proposed it.
