We are going to be relocating to Texas this summer. So now that we decided on what state to move to we just can't decide on what town. My husband wants to live somewhere between Dallas and Houston or somewhere outside those towns. Me and my daughters want to live near the ocean. So if we can decide on a place that is no more than an hour away from the beaches and at least thirty minutes from a big city. We are also looking for a small town with good schools and were the cost of living is decent. So any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Halfway between Houston and Galveston would make you about 30 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico and downtown Houston.

Texas beaches probably aren't what you invision beaches to be though...

But yeah, Clear Lake area would be good. Except if a hurricane is coming it will take you 18 hours to drive out. Clear Creek ISD has one of the best school districts in the Houston area.

There are no towns half way between Houston and Dallas, within an hour of the beach. There are a lot of big lakes inbetween though.

I'll second easilyamused. I spent my teen years and part of my 20's in Clear Lake and graduated from Clear Lake High School. Excellent school system and housing is reasonable. Like loves2read says, I wouldn't really move there without a job first. It shouldn't be too hard to find something around there though.

Brenham, Texas. The cows there are contented and the ice cream is premium.
