WOW! That place is amazing.. If I was not so afraid that it would be a mirror image of El Paso job wise, I would be headed down there to make it my new home in a heart beat.

Amazing pictures, you really captured the architecture and green spaces very well. I love the arbor and court yard with the vines.. but they are all such great shots.. good job.

Default Nice Pics Once Again

Once again, RGV, brilliant work as always. Nice color contrasts on these photos, and the architecture is just splendid. And was that our photographer reflected in one of the pics??

Thx guys. They are really working to keep this campus up, in contrast to the DT area as you can see on the other thread.

And, yes, that would be yours truly.

Adios

RGV, it's a beautiful campus, isn't it? When they first opened the new campus to the public, I was blown away by how unique and original the campus looked compared to any other Texas school. As a matter of fact, I always thought it was the most beautifully designed school in the entire state. We used to do short movies there and use the campus as some kind of drug kingpin's home.

nice pics and it's always so peaceful there. Oh you forgot shots of the other parts of campus...the cavalry buildings and the main UTB office building! How dare you! JK.

I took summer classes there while going to UT-Austin and had a blast...the classes were so small and the work so easy.

There's a ton of history on that land that the school sits on. Nearby was an old cemetary taht was washed away in the flood of the early 1900s. Many bodies popped up out of the ground and I've seen some old newspapers from the era that claim some people saw the bodies come back to life again!

Last thing...the ground that houses Jacob Brown auditorium was the site of the world's first launch of the airplane in a combat role (they were hunting Pancho Villa).

I read in the Abilene Reporter News today that the proposed wall between Mexico and the US will bisect the campus if current plans are followed. Anyone have more information on that? I don't believe the area that is being cut off has any buildings, but it is an area for future growth and does have a golf course according to the article that I read.
