Is it just me or does it seem like all the cool looking stuff like the Williams Beacon go to everywhere in Houston BUT downtown? Driving in Houston at night, you see TMC, Uptown Galleria area lit up but downtown looks like a black hole (minus the Continential Building). They let old boarded up buildings like the Central Sq and Old Days in building stand and rot for years. Does someone here have it out for downtown?

Like I posted in the "Will Houston Pass Chicago" thread:

I like that that's all Downtown Houston has. The "fancy" neon lighting stuff can stay with Uptown and the Texas Medical Center. Downtown Houston can stick with lighting similar to Continental's building (for example, the new Embassy Suites, Hess Tower, and MainPlace will all be lit up like that at night).

Houston's skyline is very dark, but the skyline is very impressive.

This is why Chicago's Palmolive Building's rotating Lindbergh beacon was turned off.

City Hall in DT Los Angeles had one as well. Its only lit for special occasions though just as the one in Chicago is.

Houston's Williams Tower is different. It will likely never (at least not in the near future) have a taller building around it for miles.

True

They did rework the lighting almost a decade ago. Technology changes so fast.

What they did was install all new bulbs & a computer controlled DMX lighting system where they could manipulate the lights in any way they wanted to...signs, shapes, lettering, blinking, etc.

I'm not very impressed with that video. Kind of looks bland.

PS. Houston needs to pass up the DFW area before it passes Chicago, lol.

Your opinion. And why would Houston need to pass DFW first? DFW wil pass Chicago, too (but before Houston obviously).
