Next place i plan to try is Firehouse BBQ in Lampasas (used to be the ole Roadhouse BBQ, which i didn't think was so great, hopin its better now with new owner)

I love Rendezvous dry ribs in Memphis..lived in Memphis area and Mississippi for a few years...liked it all, Neely's, Interstate, Corky's, heck, even Tops. The one thing that I have adopted from Memphis and Mississippi, is puttin coleslaw on my pulled pork or beef sandwiches.
We're probably going to Memphis in the next few months. I want to try Neely's while we're there. I watch their cooking show sometimes. The coleslaw on the sandwich looks good but I haven't had occasion to try it yet.

Tried Firehouse BBQ in Lampasas today. It's much better than when it was Roadhouse BBQ. Not bad, but definitely no Schoepf's.

But I've still got one of your favorites near where I live, Belle. You like Stephenville's Hard Eight. We've got one in Coppell, too. Fabulous eating.

And thinking of you every time I go!

I've heard many people say that Tennessee barbecue is better than Texas barbecue.

thanks for the nod about Hard Eight in Coppell--we went yesterday and it was really good--better than Spring Creek where we usually go--I really liked the brisquet--my husband thought it was a little overcooked--
we got there early and it had been on the pit probably all night
but it was good
sauce is a little sweet for us--we like the vinegar-type sauce at City Market in Luling--
sausage was not like Luling's either--but there again--no one has hand packed sausage like that either...sides were ok--the potato salad and cole slaw both tasted liked they had some jalapeno juice in them which was little overdone...
banana pudding was good...
we ordered too much--had some poppers but personally I do prefer them with cheese vs the turkey meat...
ribs were pretty good--did not get any chicken...
but I would go back next time I want some bbq--thought it was way better than the others in my area...

Default Glen Rose Adventure

Hi, everyone! Just got back from Hammond's BBQ in Glen Rose. I'm on vacation, so that's why I made the trek down there to do a short road trip. Had some great pork ribs, smoked sausage, three small slices of brisket, pinto beans, potato salad, blackberry cobbler and sweet tea. And they were doing it buffet-style. It's only on Tuesdays that they do that; the rest of the time they're open, it's a sit-down place with waitress service. And it's worth the visit, and the next time you're down there, be sure to stop by. It's really my favorite place in this region.

I went there several years ago and loved it. Been there a couple times. They have great cole slaw too.
