I recently drove from San Antone to Comanche to look at an airplane for sale. I loved that small town atmosphere in Comanche! I ate at a Cafe...can't remember the name, but they served good old fashioned food for like $3-$4! It was in the town square. Stupid me didn't take any pics. I'll be back!

My stars, NOTAM. I can't believe such a thing actually exists.

With gas prices down now, I may actually try to hit the road a little bit. I've never been to Comanche, but I can go through it should I decide to take in an excursion in San Angelo. And maybe I might find that eating place.

If anyone takes their kids to that area, a word of caution: Instruct them either to close their eyes, or to look away.

Or hope that your vehicle's back seat is fully equipped with Barney on the video monitors.

Passed through while driving around Stephensville and Dublin. Comanche was okay. Cool little gas station and a few friendly smiles. Dublin was more interesting and has a good buffet with pork chops and steaks. Some biker kids were cooking and they did a good job. I think the place is called Granny's. I found a interesting variety type shop might have been called a 5 and 10 where I got a cheap priced but good teapot and there was a resale shop where I found some antique ivory pieces and a blackthorn pipe for very little; like 5$. Dublin has the neat lace trimmed houses. Commanche was a bit more of a farm town.

Yep, you have it right - for decades past, and for decades future.

I'm headed down to TX this spring and two of my planned stops are Stephenville and Dublin.

I did also work with a traveling nurse from Comanche who is also an ordained Baptist minister and he did know his business well; both nursing and preaching. Most of the folks I met in Comanche seemed friendly enough. I think there is an old Dr. Pepper bottling factory in Dublin and it is the original factory. They have an old bottling system and vintage stuff; it too is worth a visit and in the spring they have a Saint Patrick's day festival and it is family oriented as opposed to a green beer boozefest like many of the Paddy's Day flings. Hogan's Alley in Dublin is where it goes on.

If I were to pick between towns around there it would be Dublin, Stephenville. Brownwood and then Comanche in that order.
