sorry, didnt mean to post such a short reply (i was on post, at work, with my iPhone).
but like i said, i have posted exhaustively on the Ft Hood area, so just find my posts and you will find all you ever wanted to know about the area.
about being an Army wife, i have been one. you will find that there are things you will just learn by being one-getting involved in FRG groups, using your resources on post. i would highly recommend that you go to one of the many army wives forums to connect with them to get specific information-that's what i did when i was a new army wife.
welcome to The Great Place!
if you have any specific questions after reading all my posts and threads about the area, just let me know!

Default Relocating to Fort Hood Area/best place to live?

I need advice!! My husband and I will be moving to the Fort Hood area this summer as he has been stationed there to start in July. We are looking for the best place to live, and coming from Seattle, are looking for a good community with a little urban feel. We have been looking at the Georgetown area especially, but were curious if anyone had any advice about possibly living in the northern area of Austin. Would this be just hell for us to commute to Fort Hood everyday? Anyone know how long of a commute that might be? I know sometimes mapquest can be off.

my Captain lives in Georgetown, along with many of my coworkers on post...it's 45 minutes drive to post. and a very nice non-stressful drive on beautiful 195, a kind of rural highway that goes thru the cute rural towns of Florence, Jarrell, Ding Dong, Maxdale...gorgeous.

Be careful of a certain family here. I won't say their name but they are screwed up and the husband cheats on his wife all the time. E-mail for the details. Men watch your women and ladies be careful.
