If they are in the Del Rio sector, it would seem logical to live in Del Rio....but any of these are going to be a pretty big culture shock for a family from NJ!
No flying...He just drives a REALLY big truck And I forgot to mention, it usually takes about 2 days

Look at a map... the only towns within a 45-minute drive of Del Rio are Comstock and Bracketville. Both are very small and would only offer the most basic services. Del Rio is by far the largest town in that part of Texas. You are going to be in for a HUGE culture shock moving from new Jersey!!

My husband grew up in Del Rio and his parents are retired and still live there.

If you can afford to send the children to private school, St. James Episcopal is excellent. The public schools are OK in the upper grades, but the lower ones are mostly bilingual.

Homes in Del Rio are affordable. You can get a nice one for $150k. The mall has a JC Penney and a Beall's, but most people go to San Antonio for big shopping trips. Del Rio finally got a Home Depot, and it has a huge Wal-mart. The only chain restaurants are Chili's, IHOP, McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts and a Denny's, but there are quite a few good Mexican and steak places in town.
