As always if you state more of what you are looking for we can help more. I'm from Wisconsin and considering a move to Austin. Wisconsin has 4-5 months of bitter cold. Austin has 3 months of scorching heat. Pick your poison I guess.

Of course there are many cultural differences, even within each state depending on where you live. There is great fishing in Wisconsin as well, I'm not into it but when I go up north every once and a while about all they do up there is drink, snowmobile, fish, and hunt. If you're into that sort of thing you'd love it.

Madison is a nice area if you want the more college/professional/urban scene. I'd guess Austin is somewhat comparable as far as culture. I'm sure there are many differences as well.

Good luck with your choice.

It's more than 3 months of relentless heat in Austin. You'd be safe to count on 5 months and like the poster said, pick your poison.
