With the slow economy, I think most cities and towns in Texas are faced with increasing crime but I was talking about the area in general. I think a small place with about five or ten acres (20 to 50 would be better) out in Callahan or Taylor County would be nice.

For me, I'll never again live in a place, large or small, without a significant land buffer between me and so called "neighbors." As your crime statistics indicate, there's just too much undiagnosed mental illness out there.

I am looking to relocate to a small town (no more than 10 or 15k polulation) within 250 miles in any direction from Dallas. My requirements are good schools, diverse community, has nursing home in town or in nearby town (30 miles away or less), low home prices, extra curricular activities available for my kiddos (preferrably dance/gymnastic, karate, or art classes), pretty landscapes, and a safe community. I have been doing alot of research on my own and would appreciate any feedback given.

Try Sherman or Denison just south of Lake Texoma and a nice Oklahoma town - Durant

I have a place just south of Jacksonville, close to Maydelle..talk about rolling hills and scenery. It almost looks like foothills in the distance. But it takes about 30 minutes to Tyler from there.
