Hello,

Just wanting to know if Historic Bancroft Apartments are located in a relatively safe area. I get the fact that areas vary greatly in safety, especially in the OWE and downtown areas. Is this area considered OWE? I can't find any reviews on the units.

Thanks for your help!

I dont know anything about those apartments themselves.

I would be cautious of that immediate area. Only a few blocks over are projects and rough areas. Even if no shady people live here, they live close and will probably be driving and walking by frequently enough. If that doesnt bother you too much then I think youre relatively safe there. Burglaries/robberies are a realistic concern though. You just have to be smart when it comes to personal safety and security and you can get by fine in an area like that.

Definitely not trying to steer you away from those apartments, but perhaps something a few blocks to the west would be of equal interest to you. Nicer area. Still rough areas to the immediate north and west, but you would be more nestled into the best area of the OWE. Im thinking anywhere on like Parkwood, Scottwood, Robinwood.....from Monroe, to like Delaware or Islington might be good places to look for apartments. Theres lot of cool apartments in a lot of the houses, with varying prices.

Yes, I'm going to be looking at some units in the areas you mentioned. I too felt like that was the better area. But, not being from there I wanted to make sure.

One more thing though.....I've been hearing some buzz about the Warehouse district. In your opinion....Safe or not?

The Warehouse district is nice. You'll be in walking distance to a number of things. Great place to be if you'd rather be downtown.

However, if you want a more residential setting like the OWE, then take a drive down Scottwood. There are a few houses with apartments for rent. In my opinion, the closer you are to the art museum the better the area.

Agreed. The warehouse district is pretty safe. Once again, im not going to say its 100% safe. There will always be shady people roaming around every so often, but you never hear of any violent crime in this area. Definitely safe enough.

The Historic Bancroft apartments are under new management and have made great strides, but the strides that block is likely to have in the future may be of little comfort to a tenant now.
